Scouts NSW is providing a coordinated response to do our part in remedying the heavy impacts of the bushfire and drought across our State. Last week, Neville Tomkins OAM JP, Chief Commissioner of Scouts NSW launched the Chief Commissioner’s Emergency Relief Campaign to assist Scouting families impacted by the catastrophic bushfires or the sustained drought.

Today, we have launched a special appeal badge has been designed by our Rovers. The badge is available for $5 through the NSW Scout Shop in Port Kembla. Net proceeds from badge sales will go towards the Family Support Fund - Emergency Relief focus to assist families who are being directly affected by the catastrophic bush fires and the sustained drought

If you’re out and about in Sydney and come across a large bunch of colourfully clothed kids and Leaders… say hi! Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Leaders have made the trip from Broken Hill to Sydney so they can try out some adventurous activities and make some new Scouting friends.

Starting their trip filling the entire plane, piloted by David Pavey, the Group Leader of 1st Hoxton Scout Group, the contingent from 3rd Broken Hill Sea Scouts Group has wasted no time getting started with fun and games. Navigating Sydney to spend time at the Wax Museum, coasting by the Opera House and sneaking into the background of a Sunrise morning broadcast, they’re leaving no stone unturned. From flying high at the Air Activity Centre in Camden to wide games with their hosts 1st/2nd Harbord Scout Group, the Group from Broken Hill have been making more new memories than they can count!

Most excitingly, those from 3rd Broken Hill have made sure to spend some time at the beach! Normally based 1140km from the coast, the Scouts have made a splash swimming and playing in the sand, and will do more water activities like snorkeling and yachting this weekend.
