What would you say if your next Scouting activity was to choose three of your closest Scouting friends and go 671 kilometres through jungles and swamps 🗺️ over rock faces and mountain ranges ⛰️ and across rivers and oceans 🌊 through the day and night 🌓 with only a map and compass to guide you? 😬

Sounds like epic fun? Now picture it as a competition against 65 teams from around the world! 🏆🌏

August is Scouts in Action Month! This year's theme is 'Flight', with all activities focusing on getting up in the air and all things associated with the science of flight. 🛩️

Challenge yourself to really think about how aircraft get up and stay in the air. Whether it's a paper plane that stays in the air for 10 seconds, or learning the dynamics of flying and gravity like the Scouts at 1st Penrith did at their local iFLY Indoor Skydiving Centre in 2017, there are so many ways to get involved - and they can all be used as Special Interest Areas of the Youth Program!

Is your Group participating in Scouts in Action Month? Let us know what you're getting up to! As the Scouts at 1st South Penrith have shown us, the sky's the limit!

Scouting enables young people to develop their leadership, learn new skills and explore their interests through adventurous, fun, challenging and inclusive activities!

Each Scout has the opportunity to choose their own journey and pursue what will be a challenge to them. Scouts who aspire to be involved in a broad range of different activities and experience the highest number of personal challenges can strive for the summit in their journey through an age section. We call this summit the Peak Award!

While goal setting and using the process of Plan>Do>Review>, Scouts design projects which allow them to try new things and pursue their existing interests.

Personal Progression from the Scout Method ensures that each project our Scouts undertake is a challenge to them and supports them to take charge of their Scouting journey. We call these the Special Interest Areas!
